Jobs vs Talent Pools: What's the Difference
Jobs and talent pools are both containers for candidates, but they serve different purposes.
Jobs
A job represents an active position you're hiring for.
Characteristics:
- Can be posted to job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Appears on your career site
- Accepts applications through application forms
- Has a workflow with pipeline stages
- Can have automations (emails, AI scoring, etc.)
When to use:
- You have an open position to fill
- You want to receive applications
- You want job board distribution
Talent pools
A talent pool is for collecting and nurturing candidates without an active posting.
Characteristics:
- Never posted to job boards
- Not visible on career site
- No application form
- Still has pipeline stages
- Can run automations and campaigns
When to use:
- Building a pipeline for future hiring
- Collecting referrals before a position opens
- Maintaining relationships with past candidates
- Silver medalists from previous searches
Converting between jobs and talent pools
Any job can become a talent pool by changing its status:
- Open the job
- Go to the Details tab
- Change the status to Talent Pool

- Save
To make a talent pool into an active job:
- Open the talent pool
- Change the status to Public (or another active status)

- Configure job board settings
- Save
